Hey everyone,

On the weekend, I ran another Expressive Writing Therapy workshop, it was a beautiful time with these ladies. We went through exercises that allowed the women to examine things from different angles. Some exercises involved examining yourself, and others were about expressing stressful or traumatic events either in prose, letter writing or in poetry. We wrote our life stories as well.

The participants said they experienced peace after they had written down their emotions. One lady said that after writing a letter to a person she had had conflict with, she then saw the issue from his point of view. This allowed her to feel differently about the issue and to feel softer towards him. She said it was like she was discovering more empathy through writing this letter. I told her when you write with empathetic words and from their point of view the release with writing for healing is even greater.

Another woman commented after one of the writing exercises she felt more at peace after doing the writing, she had lost her daughter. Another lady wrote from the point of view of her husband who is experiencing dementia, and she was able to see this through his eyes. We all got emotional as she shared this.

It was a wonderful morning of people bonding with each other and realising there are simple tools and ways they can release their stress or pain, through using poetry or prose to release it all.

One of the participants, wrote this on her feedback form:

“It was a great experience. A revelation of what is an old practice, but through a completely new mindset.”

To all the ladies who participated, thanks for a beautiful experience. I felt privileged to be a part of it, and I was moved by your openness and vulnerability. I am glad that I could share these simple tools with these ladies, as this is my goal, so they everyone can use them throughout their lives. I encouraged the women to go deeper than they had done before in journaling to access the benefits of writing for healing, which includes physical health as well as emotional, psychological, and spiritual benefits.

I am currently developing an online course about, Writing for Healing and I will be posting about it soon. It will be available soon for an introductory price. 🙂

Thanks for reading! Have a great day, Suz 🙂
