Hey everyone,

Recently, I was asked to do two workshops, overseas. These workshops went very well, with some women and men telling me they had made breakthroughs in their personal lives and had released a lot of emotional things, as well as gaining clarity about certain things they didn’t have before.

A few comments from the participants after the workshops were:

“I loved that the workshop was not only theory, but mostly practical. It really helped me to sort out things in my head and helped me to feel more clarity.”

I felt released from a persisting stress, and anxiety that was going on in my head.”

“I released some present emotions that I was unaware of and had been suppressing about a recent event.”

“Something that happened for me in the workshop, was that it gave me access to perceptions, emotions, and the impact of an event in my childhood, I was not aware I felt that way as a kid (and so still feel that way). “

During the workshops, I saw people become lighter, they started to write down as I give the promps and one woman got quite emotional as she wrote. Then as she finished writing she was not as emotional but her face had opened up. She chose to share with us that she had felt numb about this particular thing in her life, an experience, and when she started to write this allowed her to feel emotions about what had happened. It allowed her to connect with herself and how she really felt, and afterwards she felt release. This was her comment afterward

“While writing, I was able to express myself. I had difficulty crying before, but after participating in the workshop, tears came out and my heart felt relieved.”

She also told me afterward she was so grateful to me. This was such a blessing to me – I know these ladies had been through a lot of traumatic things. Sometimes we don’t even know how we feel about an event, conflict, or experience until we start writing things down. This happens to me all the time! You reveal things to yourself as you allow yourself to open up and you give yourself a voice, and acknowledge what happened to you. It is you listening to yourself, which is a profound process.

Another participant commented

“My favorite part was writing about our childhood and teenage years, and now I feel like I’m letting go of my feelings a little bit. I found the expressive writing workshop very helpful, to express something that’s been on our minds and never left our mouths and it is finally being released through writing.”

Sometimes there are things we don’t want to tell anyone and this is where expressive writing allows us to freely express this with safety. Psychologists have found that this is a profound and important process so that we can sometimes release secret things we have held inside. Especially if you feel you cannot tell this to others. We know in science that if you keep secrets, it is detrimental for your physical, mental and emotional health so this is why writing for healing, provides the amazing physical, emotional and mental health benefits.

Another woman told me that she had really felt released as we write by hand, she said she usually did it by writing on her IPAD but she now wants to continue by hand. If you can write by hand it will help you even more. If you can’t that’s okay as well. If you have a reason you need to use a tablet that’s okay, but if you can write by hand, do this, as research shows this is much better for your memory and process of emotions.

Overall, the two workshops were amazing and at the end the participants told me they felt more peaceful and released. We did have a language barrier and I had a translator it was my first time doing a cross cultural workshop but it was amazing and I loved it! Here are some pics. 🙂
