“I can shake off everything as I write;
my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.”
-Anne Frank
Write it down, and even if it is not grammatically correct or even artistic, express your feelings on paper and they will be released from your body, mind and spirit. This is the central tenet of writing therapy. 😀 Thanks Anne for being such a brave and beautiful person, and expressing what you experienced in hiding so that others could know about it. Anne wrote in her diary this was her writing therapy, then she produced a book that was rewritten by her older self to be read by others. The diary represents the more raw and honest writing, that is pure writing therapy. This is a quote from her diary about writing things down.
“The nicest part is being able to write down all my thoughts and feelings; otherwise, I’d absolutely suffocate. (Anne Frank, 16 March 1944.)”

What an inspiring young girl, she wrote stories and fairy tales, she started a novel but also she wrote in her diary and this kept her from as she wrote; “suffocating.”
If you are interested in writing therapy, my short book Freedom Writing can enlighten you about how to use simple writing techniques to be free from stress or negative emotions.
